Earlier we had reported that Konkana Sen Sharma starrer Lipstick Under My Burkha is all set to go to Tokyo where it will be featured in a film festival and now we hear that the film even won accolades there. The film has won ‘The spirit of Asia’ Award by the Japan Foundation Asia Center.

The Alankrita Srivastava directorial is a bold move in Indian cinema where it revolves around the secret lives of four feisty women from the bustling by lanes of Bhopal as they chase their small dreams of freedom. Besides this award, the film has also won the OXFAM Award for Best Film on Gender Equality at the Mumbai film festival. Not ending at that, the film will continue to travel across the world and will be part of other film festivals too. The next on the list is the Stockholm International Film Festival in November after which the team will head to the Cairo International Film Festival.

Produced by Prakash Jha, Lipstick Under My Burkha also stars Ratna Pathak, Ahana Kumra and Plabita Borthakur along with Sushant Singh, Vikrant Massey and Shashank Arora.
