One look into the quintessential commercial trailer of Raees and we know it’s a war between the anti-hero Shah Rukh Khan and the law abiding cop Nawazuddin Siddiqui. Set in the backdrop of the Prohibition era in Gujarat, the film touches upon the way alcohol industry crumbled followed by several illegal activities.
Readers may be aware that Shah Rukh Khan aka Raees is a bootlegger and the film has Nawaz chasing him to expose his smuggling activities. Here’s a scene where the cop is seen crushing several alcohol bottles. Apparently, over 60,000 bottles were used in the sequence and Nawaz crushes them in a matter of seconds. However, we hear that it wasn’t easy and the team of the film took days to acquire these many bottles.
For the uninitiated, Gujarat is a dry state in India and Prohibition affected massively as bootleggers continued to smuggle alcohol. Set in the 80s, Raees is directed by Rahul Dholakia and is slated to release on January 25.
