Madhavan to be back

It has been more than a year since Madhavan was seen in Saala Khadoos. While many wondered what he was up to, considering the fact that there hadn’t been many announcements in months to come, here is the big one. The actor has signed as many as seven films, all of which would be wrapped up by the middle of next year.

“There was a phase between 2012 [Jodi Breakers] and 2015 [Tanu Weds Manu Returns] when Madhavan didn’t have a release. He had planned it this way. However, he didn’t want a repeat of that now. He is refreshed, charged up and hungry for different subjects. Each of the films that he has signed so far is different. There are Hindi films, Tamil films and also bilinguals,” informs our source.

While he would be seen soon in Tamil gangster-cop drama Vikram Vedha, the teaser of which has recently been unveiled, he has also signed the biggie Chanda Mama Door Ke, the space flick, where he has Sushant Singh Rajput for company. Meanwhile, he has started shoot for web series Breathe, where he and Amit Sadh find themselves in the middle of an intriguing drama. He is also doing a Tamil flick Charlie (tentatively titled) and a Hindi movie which has been interestingly named Ameriki Pandit. In addition to these, he also has a couple of bilinguals, Gramophone, and a biopic, the title of which is yet to be finalized.

Each of these films is a confirmed affair for Madhavan and is in different stages of production.

When quizzed about this sudden flurry of films, this is what Madhavan had to say, “When I was sitting for all these years and analysing what I really wanted to do, scripts of quite a few films were coming my way. I was interested in quite a few and wanted the makers to develop these films further. By chance ab aisa ho gaya that saari filmein ek saath set ho gayi. They were all ready to roll and I didn’t want to now hold them any further due to time constraints. I am happy to do them all one after another. Shooting for some of these will overlap as well. I am in a happy space and want to bring them all in quick time.”

While one still one waits to see if the third instalment of Tanu Weds Manu would be in the pipeline as well in 2018-19 timeframe, rest assured Madhavan would be a lot more visible in next 20 odd months.
