Vidya Balan is kick starting 2017 with her upcoming film Begum Jaan which is a remake of the Bengali film Rajkahini. The actress will be seen as a fierce madam of the brothel. The film is a story of survivors who defy nations to save their homes, riding against the tide amidst the changing political scenario during Partition.
While the trailer of the film will be launched this week, Vidya Balan has already begun with the promotions. During the promotions, Vidya had a one of a kind experience which left her emotional. The fan, whose name is being reported as Jayanti Bhai Mehta, wanted to meet Vidya since a very long time. The fan happens to be 100 years old who revealed that he had watched Vidya’s debut film Parineeta over 100 times. He had flown down from Kolkata to Mumbai to celebrate his 100th birthday and was tear-eyed when he met Vidya. She was extremely honoured and overwhelmed to meet Jayanti Mehta and greeted him with immense love.
Begum Jaan has a stellar cast this year with Naseeruddin Shah, Ila Arun, Gauahar Khan, Pallavi Sharda, Rajit Kapoor among many others. Directed by Srijit Mukherji and produced by Vishesh Films, Begum Jaan is slated to release on April 14.
