Salman Khan has emerged as the highest advance taxpayer in the financial year 2016-17. The actor has beaten the likes of Akshay Kumar and Hrithik Roshan and has taken the top position.

According to the reports, for the entire financial year 2016-17, Salman Khan has paid an advance tax of Rs. 44.5 crores to the IT department which means he has had a growth of 39 percent in the annual income. In the fourth quarter of this year, Salman paid Rs. 14.5 crore of advance tax.

Last year, Akshay Kumar gave 3 box office successes with Airlift, Housefull 3 and Rustom. His income in 2016-17 saw a minor dip. This fiscal, he paid an advance tax of Rs. 29.5 crores compared to Rs. 30 crores in last fiscal. He paid an advance tax of Rs. 8.5 crores in the present fourth quarter of this fiscal.

The third position is taken by Hrithik Roshan with an annual advance tax figure of Rs. 25.5 crores. Hrithik has paid an advance tax of Rs. 6.5 crores in the fourth quarter of this fiscal.

The fourth position has been a quite a surprise for Income Tax Department. Comedian-turned-actor Kapil Sharma has paid an advance tax of Rs. 23.9 crores in the current financial year. According to an IT official, Kapil’s personal income has seen a jump by almost 206 percent.

The fifth position has taken by Ae Dil Hai Mushkil actor Ranbir Kapoor who has seen a dip in his income despite having a successful film in 2016. He has seen a downfall of 27 percent. This financial year, he has paid a total advance tax of Rs. 16.5 crores as compared to Rs. 22.3 crores paid in the last financial year. Ranbir paid an advance tax of Rs. 5 crores in the fourth quarter of 2016-17.

Aamir Khan is surprisingly on the sixth position even with a blockbuster like Dangal. Last financial year, he had paid a total advance tax of Rs. 9.6 crores. This financial year he has paid a total advance tax of Rs. 14.8 crores which is a growth of 54 percent. Aamir Khan paid an advance tax of Rs. 3.9 crores in the fourth quarter till March 31, 2017.

The only filmmaker to make the top 10 list of the advance tax payers is Karan Johar. According to the reports, Karan’s personal income has seen quite a boost by almost 473 per cent this financial year. Karan has paid an advance tax of Rs. 4 crores in the fourth quarter. In the year 2016-17, Karan paid a total advance tax of Rs. 11.7 crores.

The first actress to make it to the list is Deepika Padukone whose personal income has seen a jump with her Hollywood debut this year, xXx: Return of Xander Cage. The minor jump by 13 percent has made her top of the list amongst the actresses. For the entire financial year, Deepika paid an advance tax of Rs. 10.25 crores and paid Rs. 2.75 crores in the fourth quarter of this financial year.

Making her debut in the list of advance tax payers is none other than the rising star of Bollywood, Alia Bhatt. With three back to back films in last year, Alia’s personal income has seen a jump by 46 percent. She paid an advance tax of Rs. 4.33 crores for this entire financial year. In the fourth quarter, Alia paid an advance tax of Rs. 2.23 crores.

Making it to the tenth position is Kareena Kapoor Khan who has seen a dip in the income due to the maternal leave from work. She has suffered a loss in income by almost 44 per cent. Kareena paid an advance tax of Rs. 3.9 crores in the last fiscal. In the fourth quarter, she paid an advance tax of Rs. 1.2 crores.

As far as Amitabh Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan are concerned, the IT department declined to release their tax numbers. The reason being is that the two of them are under investigation with the Panama Papers leak case.
