It’s a common thing nowadays to promote a film of a contemporary, a phenomena that was unheard of a few years ago. The new age actors especially are very open to this idea and have no qualms shaking a leg and a lot more for their industry friend’s film promotion. This trend picked up in 2014 with Hrithik Roshan’s Bang Bang. The superstar then started the ‘Bang Bang Dare’ and it was heartening to see all the celebrities whom he challenged going out of their way.
The latest actor to do so now is Varun Dhawan, who promoted the Marathi film Bhikari, directed by Ganesh Acharya, by posting a video on Twitter. Also a choreographer, Ganesh Acharya was in Mauritius shooting for the double role caper Judwaa 2 when he got its lead actor Varun Dhawan to promote his upcoming film. In the video posted by Varun Dhawan, the actor can be seen shirtless standing on a wonderful beach in Mauritius. He does a cute step to the song ‘Bala O Bala’. Ganesh Acharya can be seen standing behind Varun Dhawan and he also replicates the steps. Both exit, but not before Ganesh Acharya revealing that Bhikari is releasing on August 4. What’s also noteworthy is that Ganesh Acharya has lost oodles of weight. He spoke recently about fighting obesity after his weight touched 200 kg and then struggling to get slim.
Bhikari stars Swwapnil Joshi and Rucha Inamdar and is not only directed but also co-produced by Ganesh Acharya. Judwaa 2 meanwhile features Varun Dhawan in a double role. It also stars Jacqueline Fernandez and Taapsee Pannu and is directed by David Dhawan. It’s all set to release on September 29.
