Directed by Ashuu Trikha, ENEMMY — yes, that’s how the title of the film is spelt — is named after the six pivotal characters in the film: Eklavya [Suniel Shetty], Naeem [Kay Kay Menon], Eric [Johny Lever], Madhav [Mimoh], Mukhtar [Zakir Hussain] and Yugandhar [Mithun Chakraborty]. “ENEMMY is about the unholy nexus between the politicians, underworld, police and businessmen,” Ashuu enlightens. The film is currently 85% complete.
Ashuu recalls that he never approached Mithun-da with the intent that the veteran would produce this film. “I was keen on casting Mimoh for a significant role. In actual fact, there wasn’t a role for Mithun-da initially. But a vital character emerged after several brain-storming sessions with the writer. Later, Mithun-da volunteered to produce the film himself. Looking back, I couldn’t have asked for a better producer. Mithun-da is a hands-on producer. He would perform dual responsibilities on the set — that of an actor as well as a producer — most effortlessly,” Ashuu states.
Besides ENEMMY, which is slated for release in the second half of 2012, Ashuu has one more film slated for release this year — OH GOD SAARE HAIN FRAUD — which is based on hacking. This one stars Shreyas Talpade, Mugdha Godse, Johny Lever, Mahesh Manjrekar, Sharat Saxena and Om Puri.
