Anurag Basu has planned to do an entertaining as well as colorful biopic on the legendary singer and actor Kishore Kumar. Anurag wants to make a biopic on Kishore da with Ranbir Kapoor. Both of them alongwith UTV Pictures will be doing the film. But Ranbir is busy these days doing two films right now. Anurag said after “Barfi!” this will be his second film with Ranbir. Anurag is already penning down the story, but he confesses that it is not going to be an easy task because whole world will be looking at the work with lots of expectations. However he is pretty sure that the film will be liked by one and all.

 

Anurag feels lucky as he is offered to direct the film. Kishore da has been an inspiration for him forever. The film focuses on the madness of the great singer. Basu feels Kishore da was a colourful person, he was filled up with life, and he had a charming personality. Anurag believes that the movie on Kishore Kumar will be very entertaining.

 

Kishore Kumar bagged 8 Filmfare Awards for playback singing. He sung songs in Marathi, Assamese, Malayalam, Bhojpuri, Kannada, Gujrati, Oriya languages apart from Hindi and Bengali. Kishore Kumar began his career in Bollywood as a chorus singer and started working for Bombay Talkies. He began his acting career in 1946 with “Shikari” which had Ashok Kumar in the lead. Then he got a chance to sing in the film “Ziddi” after 2 years, and he sang the song ‘marne ki duayen kyu mangun ..’.

 

He was not serious about films and took the assignments casually. However in 1949 he settled in Mumbai. The 1970s and 80s were his best decades as a playback singer where he sang for superstars Amitabh Bachchan, Rajesh Khanna, Dharamendra, Dev Anand, Mithun Chakraborty, Rishi Kapoor, to name a few.
