FIR lodged against Rahul Rawail and family

USA: Oye! Times readers Get FREE $30 to spend on Amazon, Walmart…Filmmaker Rahul Rawail's son Bharat has been accused of beating up a senior lady named Janet Iyer, a resident of their building. The incident took place while the city celebrated the last day of Ganpati. Apparently, a spat broke out between one Janet Balachandran Iyer and producer-director Rahul Rawail and his family at Vaz Bungalow in Bandra. The unrest ended with an FIR being filed against Rahul, his wife and his son Bharat at the Bandra Police Station.

The story behind the complaint states that while Rawail and his family reside on the ground floor of the building, 43-year-old Iyer is the chairperson of the Elohim Bible Group, housed on the second and third floor. For the past four years, the group has been having prayer meetings in the premises. It was around 8.30pm, when the meeting was done and members were leaving the premises that, Mr Rawail's son and wife assaulted Ms Iyer. They hit her so much that she started bleeding profusely.

According to Ms. Iyer the accused assaulted her repeatedly hitting her against the door frame and wall due to which she started bleeding. She also states that Mr. Rawail and his family have had a problem with the number of people who come to the office. With his family repeatedly abusing the members, saying they belong to a cult and raised questions about the type of people visiting.

Pratap Dighavkar, DCP, Zone IX, confirmed that he was aware of the incident but since it was Anant Chaturdashi day, he was busy with the bandobast for Visarjan proceedings.

However on the other hand, Rahul has a different story. Defending his son, Rawail says that Bharat definitely did not beat up Ms. Iyer. In fact she is a mad woman and a nuisance belonging to a cult. Apart from this, he states that the alleged assault is baseless on the grounds that if there ever were an assault, why did none of her group members step in to her assistance?

Rahul further states that he has complained against her at least thrice to the cops. But she hasn't changed her ways. While on Saturday, Ms. Iyer started banging her head against the wall and also got her pictures clicked after that claiming that it was Bharat who did the damage.
