Reason being that this would be the first biggie that would have Wave as the distribution company, post the demise of its head honcho Ponty Chadha.

"Ponty's love for movies was much known amongst industry folks. He never shied away from picking up films at a handsome price, regardless of whether they were big or small. He was particularly excited about Special 26 and had picked it up for Rs. 41 crores. It is unfortunate that he won't be around to see its release", informs a source.

For Wave, this price has turned out to be nothing less than goldmine as trade and industry is buzzing about the film's prospects due to its striking promos, good buzz, Neeraj Pandey's return after A Wednesday and of course Akshay Kumar's superstar presence.

"Some out there have tried to spread rumours around the film struggling to find buyers. That's surprising because at the sheer thought level it is funny to believe that an Akshay Kumar film would face such a situation. It is sheer negativity that is perhaps driving these people from within the industry to indulge in such loose talk", the source adds.

For the film which has been budgeted at just Rs.48 crores (considering the fact that Akshay has cut down his fee to half for this one), the producers too are looking at making a killing since it's only the theatrical rights that have been sold for Rs. 41 crores to Wave. More moolah comes from satellite and other rights.

"It's a win win situational for all", declares our source attached to the film.
