Filmmaker Karan Johar has partnered with Akshay Kumar for the movie being directed by Punit Malhotra, of I Hate Luv Storys fame.

Akshay will play among the leads within the two-hero film, the shooting of which is planned to begin early next year. Another male lead is going to be announced in a few days.

“I cannot disclose a lot now. But things i will surely have to say is that the movie is mainstream and it has a really strong root social message. It’s solid & hard hitting. Punit introduced me this unique script. I instantly approached Akshay and that he was equally thrilled with the idea,” Karan stated in a statement.

Referring to Akshay, Johar said, “If Dharma Productions needs to collaborate with Akshay, it needs to be the proper of film. And, as mentioned earlier, that one, aside from being commercial, includes a strong voice.”

On the collaboration, Akshay stated, “We are two very enthusiastic producers with one great aim — to entertain. Both Karan & I wish to make our fathers proud.
Karan’s mother Hiroo Johar & Akshay’s wife Twinkle Khanna is going to co-produce the movie.

Prior to the film with Akshay starts off, Punit is going to direct Imran Khan and Kareena Kapoor in a love story titled Gori Tere Pyar Mein, which goes on floors in March.
