Saif Ali Khan gets to execute a variation on a single of his favourite films, the George Roy Hill classic Western “Butch Cassidy and also the Sundance Kid”. In Bullet Raja, director Tigmanshu Dhulia has relocated the initial buddy film’s concept in the Wild West to Lucknow.
While Saif plays among the trigger-happy protagonists, the talented Jimmy Shergill plays another lead in “Bullet Raja”, so named due to Saif’s character’s penchant for firing bullets and riding the Bullet make of motorcycle.
“Saif and Jimmy are similar to Paul Newman and Robert Redford’s roles from ‘Butch Cassidy and also the Sundance Kid’. Irrfan Khan makes the storyline midway like a ruthless cop who’s summoned to prevent Saif’s no-holds-barred outlawry,” said well-informed source near to the project.
Saif is totally into getting away from his cultured accent and royal habits to obtain a practice the colloquial Uttar Pradesh dialect.
Said Dhulia: “Saif is actually enjoying himself. He’s the only real star-actor after Aamir Khan, that has the draw and also the capability to get completely into character. I’m his dialogue coach on location here. I brief him closely regarding how to deliver his lines. He listens, absorbs, and practises the dialogues till he gets them perfect.”
Dhulia feels Saif is well-read enough to imbibe any character, regardless of how alien to him.
“He is known for a world-view, includes a sound understanding of music, literature and also the fine arts. He’s taken having Bullet Raja’s character. He lives the function even if your camera is off. He really wants to understand what the smoothness does as he isn’t within the frame. That sort of dedication I acquired when Irrfan played ‘Paan Singh Tomar’.”
“Bullet Raja” is really a massy actioner with Sajid-Wajid’s populist numbers peppering the proceeds. If sources should be believed, Saif and the co-star Sonakshi Sinha could be jiving to “Pak chik pak raja babu”, a well known Govinda number from 1994 film “Raja Babu”.
Interestingly, the majority of Dhulia’s films to date happen to be Uttar Pradesh-based.
“So many films are now being shot around Lucknow. Abhishek Chaubey and Sudhir Mishra are coming for ‘Dedh Ishqiya’ and ‘Mehrunissa’, respectively. I’m wanting ‘Milan Talkies’ immediately after I finish ‘Bullet Raja’. There is no reason I can not make films in Uttar Pradesh.”
