Elderly pedestrian woman dies in a fatal vehicle struck at Aikman Avenue

On February 13th, 2013 at approximately 3:30 p.m., the Hamilton Police responded to the area of Wentworth Street at Aikman Avenue to investigate a collision involving a pedestrian and car.  A 72-year-old woman was crossing from the west to east side of Wentworth Street at Aikman when she was struck by a vehicle that was turning from Aikman Avenue to go south on Wentworth Street South.  The older woman suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital.  Speed and alcohol were not a factor in this collision. The Collision Reconstruction Unit and Forensics Unit responded to the collision scene.  

On Saturday, February 16th, 2013 at 1:32 p.m., the pedestrian succumbed to her injuries and her death pronounced in hospital.  This is the City’s 2nd traffic fatality and is the first pedestrian to be fatally injured for 2013. The identity of the pedestrian is being withheld at the request of the family.

The Hamilton Police Collision Reconstruction Unit continues to investigate this fatality.
