With Kai Po Che! getting just the kind of acclaim that was pretty much on the cards, UTV Motion Pictures are Abhishek Kapoor are joining hands again. The filmmaker would now be directing one more film for the production house. The deal was signed yesterday evening soon after reports starting coming in around the box office response that the film had managed to garner amongst the target audience.
"The film, as expected, had opened well in Mumbai, Gujarat, Pune, Bangalore, Calcutta, Rajasthan and also certain up market pockets of Delhi NCR. After ABCD, this is yet another film in two weeks which has managed to rake in more than just respectable numbers despite not boasting of any stars per se and featuring largely unknown names. It was a matter of excitement for all involved and this is when it was decided by powers to be that the announcement around the team's next film is made pronto", says a source.
For Abhishek, it was double the excitement, what with his film opening well and announcement of his next coming in as well.
He said, "I am humbled with the opening numbers. It's really heartening to see my film being appreciated. The film has been instrumental in forming an extremely wonderful and rewarding creative association. This is a platform for a great meeting of minds, with a shared vision, ethic and comfort zone. Here, artistic sensibilities are complementing the box office and fresh dynamic talent is being created along with an opportunity to harness path-breaking cinematic content."
"Kai Po Che! has been a satisfying and successful experience while being true to its spirit", Abhishek added, "UTV and I are taking the next step (a major leap, in fact) while partnering together for love of the craft and cementing our relationship."
Meanwhile, all associated are keeping mum on the genre of the film in the offering. However by the look of things and the trend so far, just like Abhishek's three films so far (Aryan, Rock On, Kai Po Che!), even this would explore an altogether different territory, milieu and setting.
