USA: Free $30 Oye! Times readers Get FREE $30 to spend on Amazon, Walmart…Shahid-Kareena clash averted The clash of Kapoors has been averted. Shahid Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor, whose films were being planned to release on the same date, won't be spending time on questions related to the clash. With Karan Johar pushing his film Gori Tere Pyaar Mein ahead by a week, Prabhu Dheva's Rambo Rajkumar would now see a solo release for itself.

"If the clash would have taken place, it would have been unnecessary ugly," says an insider, "Both films are solid in their own way. Brand Karan Johar is huge in its own way, especially after Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani. Moreover, with Kareena Kapoor and Imran Khan in lead with Punit Malhotra as a director, any publicity – whether positive or negative – due to clash with the Shahid Kapoor starrer was best avoided."

On the other hand, with Shahid Kapoor and Sonakshi Sinha coming together for the first time in Rambo Rajkumar, which is co-produced by Eros and Viki Rajani, a solo release is the best bet.

Interestingly, Eros has just released Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani in the international markets and scored a blockbuster success there.

"Four months back when Kareena's Gori Tere Pyar Mein had been pitched opposite Shahid's Rambo Rajkumar on November 15, one had truly wondered if this was just a coincidence. Reason being that just a few days before it had been decided that Shahid and Kareena would be clashing with each other as their Phata Poster Nikla Hero and Satyagraha were slated to arrive on the same day in August," an observer adds.

Peace prevailed though when Phata Poster… was postponed to September. Now it could well be a reciprocation of sorts, what with Kareena's film moving ahead.

"This works for all involved," a senior filmmaker adds, "None of the makers attached to these films have any problems with each other. Also, they understand that a lot is at stake and clash of any kind of unnecessary. Now they can rather concentrate on promoting the actual content of the film than talk about the clash and it's expected after effects."

We tried contacting Karan Johar but he was unavailable for comments.
