Tapsee Pannu: "Chalo, at least one girl who has been violated and killed has got justice. But what about the others? Let's wait for justice for thousands of others who are awaiting justice and thousands who have died waiting for justice."

Pooja Bhatt: "I am no one to wish death on another soul, however good or bad he or she may be. But this is an exceptional case. All I can say honestly is that justice has been done not only to Nirbhaya's parents but also to a nation parched of justice."

Neetu Chandra: "It is heartening to see that Nirbhaya's last wish is being fulfilled. But I won't be convinced until I see the rapists hanged. I wish they'd be sent to the gallows in full public view. This would send out a strong message to those who think they can get away with rape. But I am sorry to say the juvenile rapist has been dealt with, very leniently. He should also be hanged."

Shilpa Shukla: "Looking at the way things are for women in our country, the death sentence for the rapists is a big boost to our feeling of security and faith in the judiciary. Nirbhaya wanted her violators dead. Is it a coincidence that the sentence was passed on Friday the 13th?"

Gul Panag: "It's a landmark judgment, and one that will hopefully deter perpetrators of such crimes. This is one case where there was a proper conviction. The key will be to see what impact this judgment would have on other pending cases and how the rate of convicted is impacted from here onwards."

Pooja Bedi: "The death sentence is the right message to send out as a deterrent to other rapists. This is a strong loud and clear message to all those who think they can get away with it. I just wish the verdict was faster and they did not have the right to appeal."

Sophie Choudry: "I am thrilled at the honourable judiciary's decision. Now they just need to follow it through swiftly so that the public knows the judiciary means business. I hope this sentence is a deterrent to potential criminals. Then, we can seriously restore our faith in the legal process. My other concern is that the fifth and the most brutal rapist is being treated as a juvenile. Anyone who commits such a crime cannot be treated as underage. He deserves the same punishment as the others."

Lilette Dubey: "Some may consider the sentence harsh and inhuman. Personally I think justice has been done. I have two daughters and I can't even begin to imagine Nirbhaya's parents' pain. Such brutality deserves the severest punishment. We have to send out a very strong warning to all potential offenders. The price of rape is death, no less. Kudos to the court and the people who fought to make it happen."

Swara Bhaskara: "Normally I don't support capital punishment. But in this case they deserved it, not only for the rape but the gruesome brutality with which they treated Nirbhaya's body."

Tanuja Chandra: "Isn't a death sentence a kind of murder too, and one sanctioned by the State? I really appreciate the speed with which the criminals were caught and convicted. All four rapists, plus the fifth who is a juvenile deserves the strictest punishment. And I hope this sentence makes the legal process in India somewhat less daunting and helps rape to be recognized as the terrible crime that it is. But finally I only feel sorrow at so many lives destroyed by violence. Does a clamour for the public hanging of the rapists really make us a moral society?"

Death sentence for Nirbhayas rapists Bollywood speaksNeha Dhupia: "I am happy with the death sentence. But now the question! Would the sentence really help eradicate rape and rapists from our society?"

Tanushree Dutta: "There is a sense of vindication. After what they did to her it is only befitting that they pay with their lives. And I believe worse punishment awaits them in afterlife. It's time to put the fear of God in the inhuman people who are walking around our society preying on women and children. The juvenile got away easily. But it won't be long before his sins visit him. And the Mumbai rapists should be the next offenders in the gallows."

Richa Chadha: "Although capital punishment is to be implemented only in rarest cases and I don't subscribe to the eye-for-an-eye logic, in this case I feel the death sentence is imperative. It will serve as a deterrent to other misogynists. The nation has no patience waiting in vain for these savage criminals to reform."
