Times readers Get FREE $30 to spend on Amazon, Walmart…Barely hours after Riteish Deshmukh invited him for now-famous-and-in-vogue ALS Ice Bucket Challenge, Akshay Kumar obliged, even though he is many 'samundar paar' in Cape Town shooting for a TV show. What he further did was unthinkable as he didn't get drenched by just a bucket of ice cool water. Instead, he invited 11 youngsters around him who poured a bucket each on him.
Considering the fact that the temperature was just 8 degree Celsius and Akshay Kumar was out in open, the challenge turned out to be all the more tough to accomplish. The sport that he is, Akshay took it all with a smile for a good cause, though one could sense that the cold water managed to have its deadly effect on the man who has prided on being 'khatron ka khiladi'.
Akshay Kumar made sure that he wasn't alone before he took the plunge. He made it a point to nominate Salman Khan, Twinkle Khanna, Ashvini Yardi and Johny Lever to participate in the challenge as well.
After uploading the video of him taking the challenge, he also posted on social media – "I accepted my friend Riteish Deshmukh's ALS Ice Bucket Challenge and did it within 24 hrs but unfortunately being in a different country & owing to bad connectivity I couldn't upload the video on time. So I'm donating to the ALS Association, you could too on www.als.org. Now I nominate my wife Twinkle Khanna, my business partner Ashvini Yardi and my friends Salman Khan and Johnny Lever to participate and raise awareness for ALS. And you've got to do it within 24 hours, your time starts now."
While one waits to see when does each of the nominated participant join the show, one thing is for sure that the campaign is spreading its wings in a major way, and that too across the globe with many a celebrity doing their bit.
About ALS Ice Bucket Challenge (Source: Times Of India):
Ice Bucket Challenge has been initiated to raise awareness and funds for ALS or Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis. The disease is a neurodegenerative disease in which the body's use of muscles shuts down, ending in the effective immobility and eventually leading to paralysis. As part of challenge, a person is supposed to dump a bucket of ice-cold water on one's head or donate 100 dollars for charity within 24 hours. Celebrities have done both. They also 'challenge' three more people to do so.
