The song entitled 'Mera Desh Hai Mahaan Mera Desh Hai Jawaan' is Nihalani's homage to a nation that has grown up on songs about leaders who have changed the way we look at our country.

Says Nihalani, "We don't have good patriotic songs. Because the young don't have that many political leaders to look up to. There was a time when Manoj Kumar Saab's films had great patriotic songs like 'Mere Desh Ki Dharti' and 'Hai Preet Jahaan Ki Reet Sadaa'. After the 1970s, the nation lost hope in its leaders. There are no patriotic songs anymore because the sense of patriotism is gone from our youngsters' lives."

Nihalani recalls a rare desh-bhakti song in a film post the 1970s. "It was beautiful patriotic song 'Aankhen Jiski Mandir Masjid Dil Gurudwara Hai Wohdesh Tumhara Hai' in a film that I had produced in 1997 called Bhai Bhai. The song touched the hearts of those who heard it. But the feeling of collective patriotism in a song was gone."

Nihalani feels the Prime Minister Narendra Modi has again inculcated a sense of pride in the youth. "I felt the time was right for another patriotic song. I hope my song 'Mera Desh Mahaan Mera Desh Jawaan' would bond the youngsters of the country in a collective clasp of nationalism."

A bio-pic on Narendra Modi is also on Nihalani's anvil.
