USA: Free $30 Oye! Times readers Get FREE $30 to spend on Amazon, Walmart…This has to be the most 'dhamaakedaar khabar' before close of year. Just when it seemed that Akshay is redefining himself with a compelling act in much awaited Airlift, his nod of approval for Robot 2 has turned out to be as big an announcement as one can expect.

"Yes, it is locked and sealed. Akshay is doing Robot 2," confirms our source, "The film has only become bigger with Rajinikanth, Shankar and A.R. Rahman already on board for the sequel. Now with Akshay stepping in, there is further pan-India appeal that has been generated."

In the first part, it was Aishwarya Rai Bachchan who had taken the film beyond its regional appeal. Back then, there was no Bahubali breaking records for a dubbed South affair and hence even a modest 20 odd crore that it had gained in the Hindi version was the highest ever.

"Things would be very different now with Robot 2," an insider adds, "With Akshay stepping in, it is as mighty as it gets. Though the details are still awaited, one can expect that instead of being a dubbed version, it could well be a Tamil-Hindi bilingual. That makes Robot 2 even bigger as a product for all-India with a hugely greater reach in overseas as well."

For Akshay, this is clearly one of his biggest moves in the recent times where he is having the time of his life.

"Look at the kind of variations he is trying out," a filmmaker comments, "From no-nonsense affairs like Baby, Airlift and Holiday to comic outings like Singh Is Bliing and Housefull 3 to action dramas like Gabbar Is Back and Brothers to now an act of villainy in Robot 2 – he is managing it all, courtesy his well thought of decision to make three to four films a year. If he was sticking to the model of one or two films per year like his contemporaries, he may not have managed to explore his versatility. At this stage of his career, he is running fast, and running hard."

For now though, it is going to be a constant run between Mumbai and Chennai for Akshay, as he would persistently juggle between three to four films that are in different stages of production.
