For those not aware, Paithani uses the ancient technique of tapestry where multiple threads of different colours along with gold and silver threads are weaved together to form a fascinating piece of silk. It's made from natural silk or cotton with precious gold and silver metal threads that gives Paithani the Midas touch.

Sonali says, "I do like wearing Paithani Sarees as I find them graceful. I have a collection from my mother and my mother-in-law. I would say my favorites are live chiffons as they are light, can be dressed up with jewellery etc, for day as well as night functions. I can literally live in them. The reason for me to be associated with it is that Paithani reminds me of my mother and her mother, aunts. In Maharashtrian households your wedding trousseau is not complete without a paithani. Also its weave motifs and colors are so rich that it has been my fascination from the time I was a little girl".
