Back in 2015, the news that Aamir Khan had locked horns with the Grand Master Vishwanathan Anand at a private function over a game of chess had made headlines. Well yesterday, the actor graced the Hridaynath Mangeshkar Awards function that honoured Anand for his contribution to the sport.
While the award was conferred by the Maharashtra Governor C Vidyasagar Raos, Aamir Khan who attended the event was the guest of honour along with Pandit Hridaynath Mangeshkar. The prestigious Hridaynath Award, which recognises individuals for success in various walks of life comprises a cash award of Rs 2 lakh and a memento.
Speaking at the function, Aamir Khan remembered his 2015 chess match with Anand and said that was the only time he had enjoyed "losing". Further the actor added, "I am one of his biggest fans… He is such an inspiration to young people across the country. At a time when we really need icons who believe in work and dedication, he is the one who stands out".
