While the fact that the popular song 'Oye Oye' from the 1989 film Tridev being remade has been in the news for quite some time now, we now got a glimpse of the same. The upcoming biopic Azhar will have the remake of the song 'Gajar Ne Kiya Hai' starring Nargis Fakhri who plays the role of former actress Sangeeta Bijlani in the film.
Considering that Sangeeta was one of the most popular divas of the 90s and Tridev being one of her most popular movies, this iconic number was chosen to be recreated. The original song in the film was picturized on three heroines, namely, Madhuri Dixit, Sangeeta Bijlani and Sonam. The said song will see Nargis in a glamorous avatar but quite different from the outfit Sangeeta Bijlani sported in the original. Though the sets are different from its 90s counterpart, the 'Gajar' rather the 'Clock' used in both songs are quite similar. Azhar will also focus on the love story of former Indian cricket team captain Mohammad Azharuddin and his second wife Sangeeta Bijlani and it will have Emraan Hashmi playing the cricketer.
Besides them, Azhar also stars Prachi Desai as Azhar's first wife Noureen and Lara Dutta and Kunaal Roy Kapur in prominent roles as lawyers. The film will encompass the struggles, the success and the scandal in Azharuddin's life. Directed by Tony D'Souza, it is slated to release on May 13.
