When I walked in Langot I had tears in eyes - Salman Khan

"I'm fighting with myself all the time. I am constantly trying to raise my own standards. I always try and take baby steps ahead," said Salman Khan at the theatrical trailer launch of Sultan at Film City in Mumbai a short while back. The packed media contingent whistled away to glory after watching the blockbuster theatrical trailer of Sultan thrice. The promo of writer director Ali Abbas Zafar's Sultan has many whistle worthy moments but more importantly you witness the determined power of sweat that Khan unleashes like never before. After Bajrangi Bhaijaan, Salman looks supremely stoic to stretch limits as an actor of meritorious eminence. Anushka Sharma is a perfect foil. She holds her own and packs in solid acting punches of her own. The pairing of Salman-Anushka holds a lot of promise.

"No one can beat experience. Salman Khan's contribution to Sultan is immense," said Ali Abbas Zafar. Mr Khan admitted that the sort of physical transformations that he undergoes in Sultan was extremely difficult. Salman was at his wittiest best at the promo launch today. He cracked jokes with one and all. There were times when he suddenly became serious but it is very obvious that this film means a lot to him. He said that he competes only with himself. "I'm not trying to pull anyone down but yes I want to break my own records. I would want Sultan to be the biggest hit of my career," he said. A few days back at the IIFA press conference, Salman flaunted a moustache but today he was in his clean shaven avatar. It might just have been a smart move to establish both the looks from Sultan since both the events were almost back to back.

Anushka Sharma looked at her elegant best in a black suit. "Salman has worked really really hard on Sultan. He's a refreshing person to be with," said Anushka. She said that she was apprehensive when she was first approached for the role since wrestling is a contact sport and she wasn't sure about pulling it off. "I saw several videos of various bouts and then I knew that I have to go all out during the wrestling scenes," Anushka said. Salman said that there's a bout between her and Anushka but it is a romantic one.

Salman narrated a very funny experience during the promo launch today when he shared his thoughts on wearing a Langot. "The most difficult part in Sultan was the Langot. Now I know what heroines must be feeling when they wear a bikini. When I walked in Langot towards the location, I had tears in my eyes. I felt violated. I take off my shirt and I walk around in shorts but wearing a Langot was tough," Salman said amidst laughter all around.

Salman also shared his thoughts on running along with the oldest steam engine in Rewari in Haryana. The train driver was either running fast or when asked to slow down, he slowed down completely and there was no point even running after that. "Running along with the train was very tiresome," Salman said.

As a smart alec journalist asked Salman that as per the Sultan promo a wrestler wants to marry a wrestler then whom should a filmstar marry in real life? Salman rose to the occasion in a hilarious fashion and said that this is the sort of question that ends a press conference. The photo opportunity followed after that. The whistles continued to blow.
