I got carried away while playing the drums - Nawazuddin Siddiqui

Deep cut, profuse bleeding, panic on location…Nawazuddin Siddiqui experienced all of this on the while shooting last week for Kushan Nandy's Babumoshai Bandookbaaz in Malihabad near Lucknow.

Now recovering and raring to get back to work, Nawaz recounts the experience with a shudder. "It was bad. We were in a place with limited medical facility when it happened. For a sequence I had to play a tin drum with my bare hands. I suppose I got carried away and began to pound to hard. My hand suffered a deep wound. It required stitches. And since the tin was rusted I had to take anti-tetanus injections as well."

Not that the experience has taught Nawaz to be more careful. "Caution is not a primary consideration when I am doing a scene. I sometimes get so carried away I don't know what I am doing to myself. Injuries will happen. They are part and parcel of the process of getting into character."

On a more cheerful note, Nawaz is all praise for his Babumoshai Bandookbaaz co-star Bidita Bag who replaced Chitrangda Singh after she suddenly walked out of the film.

Nawaz says Bidita is a blessing. "Woh kehte hain na, jo hota hai achcha ke liye hota hai (whatever happens, happens for the best). Bidita is perfect for the part. She's a pleasure to work with. She understands her character instinctively and gives a hundred percent of her concentration to every scene."
