USA: Free $30 Oye! Times readers Get FREE $30 to spend on Amazon, Walmart…Last year, on September 9, the Delhi's Saket court had begun the trial against Mahmood Farooqui, the co-director of Aamir Khan Production's Peepli (Live). The reason for Mahmood Farooqui's trial was that he had allegedly raped a 35 year old American woman in the year 2015. Mahmood Farooqui, who happens to be a proponent of the old art of Urdu storytelling called 'Dastangoi', had been accused of raping the 35 year old American research scholar from Columbia University.

The latest update on the case is that Delhi's Saket court has now convicted Mahmood Farooqui of raping the 35 year old American woman. Sanjiv Jain (Additional Sessions Judge), who found Mahmood Farooqui to be guilty under IPC Section 376 (punishment for rape), ordered that he be taken into judicial custody. Additionally, advocate Vrinda Grover (who happens to be counsel for the complainant) said that they were very happy to see that the court relied on very credible evidence that the woman gave.

While the court will hear the arguments on sentencing on August 2 (tomorrow), watch this space for developments.
