All those who have seen the Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury directed Pink, simply cannot stop raving about the film and its hard hitting content. Besides the towering presence of Amitabh Bachchan, the trio of Taapsee Pannu, Kirti Kulhari and Andrea Tariang have definitely made their way into the cinegoers hearts through their realistic performance. The film’s extraordinaire second half sees a nail biting courtroom drama between the three girls and the four accused (Angad Bedi and gang). And in the end, the judge announces the verdict in the favour of the girls and sentences the accused for their crime.
But, what one hears (from Bollywood Hungama’s reliable sources) is that, initially, Amitabh Bachchan wanted to infuse a realistic shock value in the film. That’s why Amitabh Bachchan reportedly suggested the accused boys should win the case, and not the girls. And because of this, many will land up thinking about the fact that, when everything was going for the girls and against the boys, how can it be possible that the boys still win the case. By doing this, Amitabh Bachchan wanted to show the ‘exact manner’ in which the judicial system functions these days. But, the writers of Pink stood by their version of the film, and politely refused the ending that had been suggested by Amitabh Bachchan, citing the power of ‘feminine power’.
The rest, as we all know, is history… we mean … ‘her story’.
When we tried to establish contacts with Pink’s producer Shoojit Sircar regarding the film’s alternate ending, he replied stating that was just getting inside a meeting.
