Readers may recall about us reporting about the extremely versatile Vidya Balan doing a film titled Begum Jaan, which is being directed by the debutante Srijit Mukherji. It’s the very film that will see Vidya Balan donning the avatars of Rani Lakshmi Bai, Razia Sultana and Mirabai. The latest update on Begum Jaan is that, besides directing the film, Srijit Mukherji will also be seen in a cameo in the film. While he will be seen playing the role of wazir (minister) to Vidya's Razia Sultana, the scenes were shot at a heritage hotel in Delhi lately. Speaking about his role, Srijit Mukherji said that, even though he has done a cameo, there were no dialogues. Besides Vidya Balan, Begum Jaanalso stars Naseeruddin Shah, Gauhar Khan and Pallavi Sharda in pivotal roles. The film is slated to release on January 6, 2017.
