KAALAKAANDI takes the audience through one raucous night in Mumbai. Our leading man, a cautious divorcee (Saif Ali Khan) is devastated to learn his days are numbered, but his reaction is not at all what anyone could expect, to the surprise of his close- knit family, and some very new friends.
And in another room in Mumbai, packing to leave, abandoning both town and boyfriend (Kunaal Roy Kapur), is our final lead (Sobhita Dhulipala) to study abroad when fate collides, bringing our stories together.
A thrilling, explosive dark comedy, KAALAKAANDI is a story about life, death and karma. With an unflinching eye, it speaks of the plurality, complexities and contradictions of the India of today from its surface riches to its underbelly, from crowded dance clubs to deserted ship-breaking yards, of people who start with everything and end with nothing, and those who start with nothing but want everything.
