Black Diamond Entertainments is proud to be the Presenting Partner of the First Punjabi International Film Academy Awards 2012

Black Diamond Entertainments is proud to be the Presenting Partner of the first Punjabi International Film Academy Awards (PIFAA). The awards will be taking place on August 4th, 2012 at 7pm at the Air Canada Center in Toronto, Ontario.

PIFAA has been created to celebrate the history of Punjabi Cinema, and the growing Punjabi presence in Bollywood, Hollywood and on the International stage. The award ceremony will bring hundreds of the world's best and brightest Punjabi Cinema stars to Toronto, making PIFAA one of the most star-studded events in Toronto. 

The PIFAA is a landmark event in Toronto, celebrating the eminence of Punjabi culture and cinema for the first time and allowing Canadians and South Asian communities alike to come together and join the celebration.

With PIFAA now officially on its way, the excitement is palpable leading up to the awards’ ceremony which promises to be the highlight of the year for the Punjabi community and Canadians alike. In words of Michael Chan, the Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sport:

“Ontario is home to one of the most diverse populations in the world with a reputation for hosting internationally renowned film festivals and events. PIFAA will be a tremendous opportunity for Ontarians and visitors alike to celebrate our rich culture and discover why Ontario is a place to explore and experience.”
 

The powerhouse of the special guests includes prominent names like Dharmendra, Om Puri, Jimmy Shergill, Sonu Sood, Divya Dutta, Manmohan Singh, Prem Chopra, Rama Vij, Satish Kaul and other stars. The event would thunder from the live performances from actors Gippy Garewal, Diljit Dosanjh and Neeru Bajwa who represents the young brigade of the contemporary times. Comedy superstars Kapil Sharma and Gurpreet Ghuggi will ensure to provide the comic-icing for the event.

Dharmendra, the Punjabi heart-throb and the Bollywood Legend of the yonder years who is also the PIFAA ambassador while speaking on the inauguration ceremony, remarked, “I am very proud of the Punjabi community of Greater Toronto for executing what will be a landmark international event for Punjabis around the globe. PIFAA is the ideal platform to recognize the significant impact the Punjabi community has had on Indian and International Cinema over the decades. I am thrilled to be a part of the inaugural PIFAA weekend.”

The Punjabi International Film Academy Awards gears up to be a monumental event in Punjabi culture, which will hopefully become an integral part of Canadian culture and an annual celebration of Punjabi Cinema. PIFAA is being launched to celebrate the important history of Punjabi films, the dominance of Punjabi people in Bollywood and the increasing international popularity of contemporary Punjabi films.

Many local brands have made significant contributions to make the event a success. The Radisson Plaza and the Grand Victorian Convention Center are the Hospitality partners to provide a fondling experience for the event attendees.
