The Kindred Spirits Orchestra trains talented children for Broadway

The Kindred Spirits Orchestra provided 13 children from the GTA with essential skills in singing, dancing, and acting during a rigorous one-year training programme in Markham, Ontario. Broadway Kids Live! is a programme designed to provide children with opportunities to acquire important skills in singing, acting, dancing, working with a conductor, and performing in front of a large audience. The final cast is provided with various promotional opportunities through video and audio recordings, social media vehicles, and special events.

From 115 applications received in 2011, 55 children from the GTA were invited to audition live in Markham and another 23, in Toronto in front of a panel of judges led by Maestro Kristian Alexander, Music Director of the Kindred Spirits Orchestra. A final cast of 13 children was selected to perform live on stage at Markham Theatre for the Performing Arts on May 6, 2012.

The Sound of Music, Cinderella, Oliver!, Annie, Hercules, Mulan, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, The Little Mermaid, The Wizard of Oz, Mary Poppins, Les Misérable, An American Tail and other all time children`s favourties are included in the concert. The story will be beautifully narrated by incomparable actress and singer, Canadian icon June Garber, and accompanied by the Kindred Spirits Orchestra under the baton of Maestro Keith Reid.
