Hindus have commended entertainer Madonna for calling attention to the issue of intolerance during her current World tour.

Hindu statesman Rajan Zed, in a statement in Nevada (USA) today, said that it was the primary job of religious leaders and organizations to raise voice against the rising intolerance in the world but many had not come forward due to reasons best known to them. And if Madonna dared to highlight the issue of intolerance, we should all back her.

Zed, who is President of Universal Society of Hinduism, also applauded Madonna for speaking against Roma (Gypsy) discrimination in the past, who he said were facing apartheid conditions in Europe.

Praising Madonna, Rajan Zed stressed that intolerance was unacceptable and religious leaders and entertainers should not stay apathetic and silent spectators to the continuous maltreatment of world’s helpless and powerless.

Golden Globe winner Madonna (Evita), 53, is giving about 88 performances worldwide in her currently ongoing "The Madonna 2012 World Tour" ending December 22, and reportedly stated that it was an artist’s responsibility to “help bring people together".
