Hindus have welcomed the historic legislative decree issued by Afghanistan President Hamid Karzai today, reserving a seat for Hindus and Sikhs in the country’s lower house of parliament (Wolesi Jirga) in 2015 elections.

Distinguished Hindu statesman Rajan Zed, in a statement in Nevada (USA) today, called thus giving representation to country’s Hindus and Sikhs “a step in the right direction”.

Rajan Zed, who is President of Universal Society of Hinduism, urged Hindus and Sikh nationals of Afghanistan to wholeheartedly work for the development of Afghanistan. Zed urged Karzai to seriously listen to other issues of minority Hindu and Sikh communities of Afghanistan and work on speedy resolution of those.
