The 1st Annual Miss West Indian Canadian Pageant was held on Sunday, October 24, 2010 at the prestigious Pearson Convention Center hosted by Mozez Ali.  Congratulations to RIA DA COSTA for winning the pageant!  The race was extremely close with SASHA GOKOOL as the 1st Runner-up & Miss Popularity and SHAMEELA SHAHEED as the 2nd Runner-up.
The top 10 contestants opened with their well rehearsed opening choreographed dance number to Paparazzi by Lady Gaga and then Jai Ho.  They were all graceful and stunning in their bridal gowns from Best For Bride – jewelry by FERI, and WOWED the crowd in their lehengas from CTC West – jewelry by Banglez.  All their talents really impressed the judges.  Their evening gowns were all beautiful and they modelled them very well.  They went right into the Q&A.  The audience enjoyed the show and emails are still pouring in with support for next year.

Thank you to all the 2010 exhibitors!  We had a great turn out this year and look forward to an even bigger turn out next year.

  1. I personally attended this pageant, and completely agree with the judges decision. Miss DaCosta was dominated the talent show and was a knockout in both brcomment_IDal and evening-gown wear. I look forward to this pageants ongoing success. CONGRATLATIONSS RIA!!!

  2. That’s great if this was a fair pageant. The last Miss West Indian pageant a drop dead gorgeous, highly intelligent, decent wonderful girl Sherina Khan was cheated. These girls would have no chance against her. This girl is sexy and beautiful in every way. We need to see fairness in these competitions for women representing their heritage and standing there proud and strong. I support any pageant that is fair, doesn’t exploit a woman’s body and has the right comment_content_IDea. Congratulations!

  3. She dominated the talent show!?!? ummm maybe you missed that part because she came in wearing running shoes, the other girl who played steel pan dcomment_ID WAY better than her and although she is pretty, she dcomment_ID not blow the other girls out of the water. I agree with the first comment_content that this was fixed. You also probably dcomment_IDn’t notice that when they announced her the room went silent and everyone looked around at each other like “are they serious” These pageants are rigged and should really be judged fairly.

  4. I agree with the first comment_content. This was unfair, Congratulations to the winner nevertheless and no disrespect against them however there were much more beuatiful, talened, all around better contestants that should of won and could completely see that this was a FIXED and UNPROFESSIONAL pageant. Someone with more business ethic, experience, and professionalism should def step in and host a REAL pageant with fairness and equity. Shame on Infinite and thier partners for hosting a disgraceful Pageant on behalf of the West Indies.

  5. I also attended the pageant and also helped the girls out from behind the scenes, and from what I saw it was not rigged. I must say that who i picked to win dcomment_IDn’t win but Ria was a true beauty in and out running shoes and all (ballet shoes to be exact). I also had a chance to speak with Mrs. Pakistan and she sacomment_ID she has attended so many pageants and that even though this is the first for Miss west indian canadian it was done very well, and I agree. I loved the steel pan girls talent as well but think about when Ria was up for the q&a portion it was flawless…no doubt a true winner. 🙂

  6. I completely agree with Nick. I saw that last pageant a couple of years ago as well. I have the vcomment_IDeo. Miss Sherina Khan was absolutely gorgeous. Her dance was intoxicating for all the men. The Lisa girl who played the steelpan dcomment_ID not play the steel pan. It was music. Sherina Khan went on to Miss Universe we heard. Natalie(the winner??) I can’t remember her name dcomment_IDn’t do much as it was rigged St. Lucia sponsored the whole thing. There was another really cute girl who dcomment_IDn’t even make it in the top which was not fair. If this pageant is fair that would be a first. If it is fair it will last more than 2 or 3 years. Let’s wait and see. Congrats to all the girls. I heard it went well. My team and I will come out next year to show our support.

  7. I attended te pageant and t say that Ria is definitely beautiful but the professionalism of the show needed work. The selection of judges needs to be reviewed and become of higher ranks to qualify…maybe not chat so much and actually what the show to properly judge. Everyone has an opinion on who should be the winner but from the audience point of view….it wasn’t Ria.

  8. I saw the pageant, and agree it needs work. My favorite was Tamina Bokhari Mrs Pakistan who made a special appearance and gave out the awards. She carried herself like a true queen and I sort of compared the girls to her.

I am not sure how the judges made their decision but the winner dcomment_ID not stand out to me. Maybe those who run this pageant wanted a girl who was not so outspoken or bold so they can control her because I heard the organizer is very controlling of the girls.
