USA: Free $30 Oye! Times readers Get FREE $30 to spend on Amazon, Walmart…Expectations:
After the path-breaking Go Goa Gone and the ingenious song 'Shake Your Bootiya' in Finding Fanny, expectations have to be high from the innovative team of producer Dinesh Vijan and Sachin-Jigar. Raj-DK also directed the former film, and Vijan also co-produced Love Aaj Kal, Cocktail and Agent Vinod. Expectations increase to huge.

Music:
The commercial winner among all the tracks is, doubtlessly, the funky 'Paaji Tussi Such A Pussycat' (Amitabh Bhattacharya-Jigar Saraiya-Divya Kumar) – a crazy caper of a song, with a light layering in the composition, a retro Western treatment and the classic Amitabh Bhatttacharya brand of lyrics. Sample the quintessential Bhattacharya imagery like 'Big budget tere saare sapne / Haath mein lollypop hai / Par haqeeqat ki theatron mein /Teri saari filmein flop hai'. And the three singers let their vocal hair down and have a blast.

Divya Kumar, with his amazing throw ('Maston Ki Jhund', 'Chanchal Man' and 'Shake Your Bootiya') excels in 'G Phaad Ke', a song clearly tailor-made for the one and only Govinda. Made in contemporary format with backing vocals and a frenetic beat, with a dollop of Punjabi and rap, the song finds Shefali Alvarez with her nasal intonations providing the refreshing contrast.

The song is infectious and has a Pritam-ish feel in its construction and rhythm. However, the mixing finds the orchestration levels too high for the song, making only the hook, 'Nache Saare G Phaad Ke' stand out crystal-clear. Ironic when the 'G' in the mukhda stands for 'Galaa' or throat! Ashish Pandit writes apt funky and sannki lyrics ('Sarphira hai tu sarphiri hoon main /Ya hum dono hain sahi / Aur sarphire hain saare').

Papon Angaraaj is in usual fettle in 'Khamma Ghani' (the oft-heard Rajasthani salutation now made into a mukhda) and Smita Jain and Vidhi Mehta support his soulful vocals in another Pritam-esque song that also sounds in part also like a harkback to Sachin-Jigar's 'Bairiya' number in Ramaiya Vastavaiya.

That said, Sachin-Jigar do deck up the song with a fresh orchestration amidst the familiar rhythm and provide a haunting folk aura that lingers. The lyrics (Amitabh Bhattacharya) are very 'today' – in both the good and bad sense!

Amitabh Bhattacharya also writes the crazy 'Haseena Tu Kameena Main' in style ('Ek pe magar theharta kidhar / Tu aisa casanova kameena') and Shruti Pathak sings with élan. The male singers (Siddhart Basru and Rahul Pandey) are equally spirited in this enjoyable ditty with a nice beat.

Arijit Singh is summoned for the typical love song, 'Jaise Mera Tu' and lyricist Priya Saraiya (nee Panchaal) doubles up as a singer and emotes in husky tenor, another different rendition after lip-synching for Akshay Kumar in the song 'Johnny Johnny' in Its Entertainment. Sachin-Jigar keep the song gentle with a lot of soft guitars, with Arijit's higher-octave rendition strangely highlighting the soul of the song. However, we do feel that the interlude music should have been far better than the hotchpotch we get, considering the flow of the composition and the singing.

The lead track, 'Mileya Mileya' (Rekha Bhardwaj-Priya Andrews-Jigar Saraiya) treads somewhat familiar ground despite aspiring to be different. The lyrics are nice but the song does not register at the same level and should not have been employed as the lead track.

Overall:
The score is another triumph for the team – though this is a more conventional album vis-à-vis the unconventional and completely fresh sound of Go Goa Gone and the Finding Fanny song. As an aid to the film, 'Paaji…' has already picked up.

Our Pick:
'Paaji Tussi Such A Pussycat', 'Haseena Tu Kameena Main', 'G Phaad Ke', 'Jaisa Mera Tu'
