New drummer for U2
Dutch musician Bram van den Berg will temporarily replace U2 drummer Larry Mullen for a number of shows in Las Vegas this fall.
Van den Berg, who is normally the drummer for Krezip, was introduced to the band by Dutch DJ Martin Garrix. In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, U2 guitarist The Edge explained that Garrix played an important role in connecting Van den Berg with the band.
The Edge was impressed with Van den Berg’s drumming skills and his friendly personality, which is important to the band as they value deep friendships and relationships.
U2 has never had to do without their permanent drummer before, but Mullen needs to recover from a back injury. Despite this, the band is excited to work with Van den Berg and believes it will be a great experience. Garrix is a good friend of the band and has collaborated with them on multiple projects, including the 2021 European Football Championship theme song and another U2 song called Your Song Saved My Life.
