After selling out in Mid-November, there are a limited number of copies of Bob Dylan’s book of lyrics “The Lyrics: Since 1962&Prime available
By Stephen Pate – They only printed 3,500 of the special collectors edition of The Lyrics: Since 1962.
On October 29th, the limited edition book sold out in the USA and EU. We found some at Amazon.ca. Eventually, the Canadian copies sold out. Dylan fans and collectors were deeply disappointed.
Amazon.com now has a 2nd printing in stock. Shipments started over the weekend.
1st Edition copies are going for $295 to $750.
ROCK | ART | EDITIONS wrote “Bob Dylan – The Lyrics Since 1962 is important for readers of ROCK | ART | EDITIONS because it’s likely to become a sought-after rarity very quickly. It’s published as a limited edition of 3,000, priced at $200 – £120 to English buyers, though Amazon UK discounted it to about £80.”
Gerald Smith of ROCK | ART | EDITIONS wrote further “Simon & Schuster continue: “This is an extraordinary work – truly a collector’s item.” I don’t usually endorse new product hype, but I agree wholeheartedly with this assessment.”
What is the book? It has all of Bob Dylan’s lyrics since 1962 in a 12&Prime art book format. The songs are arranged by album release and the sections are separated with full size reproductions of the vinyl LP covers.
Printed on heavy stock paper, the book was annotated by Christopher Ricks, a world-class authority on Dylan’s lyrics. Ricks is the author of Dylan’s Visions of Sin, which to my mind is the best book written about Bob Dylan’s song lyrics.
The only downside to the book is that it weighs 13 lbs.
That being said, I have my copy and look forward to using it for years to come.
