President Salva Kiir Mayardit on Wednesday issued a Republican Order No. 26/2016 for the establishment of the cantonment sites for the Sudan People Liberation Movement/Army in Opposition or SPLM/A-IO forces.

JUBA, 19 October 2016 [Gurtong]-According to the order, “based on the Implementation of the Agreement on the Resolution of the Conflict in the Republic of South Sudan (ARCISS), 17th August 2016 and in exercise of the powers conferred upon me under Chapter 2., 2.1, I Salva Kiir Mayardit, President of the Republic of South Sudan do here by issue this Republican Order for establishment of the cantonment sites for the SPLM/A-IO forces” reads the order issued Wednesday.

This comes following a meeting chaired by President Salva Kiir Mayardit with his two deputies; First Vice President Taban Deng Gai who also leads the SPLM/A-IO forces in Juba and Vice President James Wani Igga early this week.

The Cantonment sites includes; Logurun for the assembly of the SPLM/A-IO forces in Imatong and Lamurnyang States, Korlimu for the assembly of the SPLM/A-IO forces in Jubek, Terekeka, and Yei River States.

The other sites include Kedeba for the assembly of the SPLM/A-IO forces Gbude, Amadi and Maridi States and Tenderi for assembly of the SPLM/A-IO forces who were previously deployed at Jebel Kujur and Rajaf police center prior to the crisis of July 2016.

Kiir directed the Minister of Defence and Veteran Affairs Kuol Manyang Juuk to take charge for the implementation of the cantonment order.

“The said SPLM/A-IO Forces shall immediately report to the named cantonment sites with effect from 19th October 2016” Kiir stated in the order.

Vice President James Wani Igga said at the SPLM ruling party reception of party registration certificate that their meeting with President Kiir earlier resolved and agreed on the needs to cantoned the members of the SPLA-IO forces in the country.

“For the cantonment we have agreed that the forces of the SPLA-IO with immediate effect should move to the cantonment sites.”

“In Equatoria for example Kedeba in Western Equatoria for Central Equatoria it is Korlim from Juba – Kajokeji road and for Eastern Equatoria it is logurun on Kiyala – Ikotos road and the forth cantonment site is a place near west of Jebel Ladu called Tendere” Igga said.
