The State transitional constitution was sent to Juba for authentication and to give the State a compatibility certificate before it’s promulgated to the public.
The signed constitution has given more powers to the State Governor to appoint two members of parliament to the State Legislative Assembly.
Last month WBGS Legislative Assembly members passed the State constitution without agreeing on the 3 controversial articles.
Among the State ministers in the review committee was the minister for Legal Affairs, Mr. John Peter Misken who appreciated the National Ministry of Justice for going through all sections of articles in the constitution before assenting to it.
While speaking upon receiving of the transitional constitution, Mr. Misken stated that, “after a long struggle as a committee, we have managed to work out and met all guidelines to make this transitional constitution ready for the State.”
“Upon giving the WBGS Governor the green light for enactment, he will soon form a committee that will start working for the State’s permanent constitution,” Misken added.
Misken pointed out the importance of the transitional constitution to the entire people of WBGS in guiding them on key matters in their State; he also thanked the legislators for working hard to amend controversial articles in the State transitional constitution, like the article on CPA among others.
Misken summed up by urging the people of WBGS and all the political elite in the State to read the constitution and interpret it correctly.
Governor Rizik Zackaria Hassan is expected to be re-sworn in soon for his new term of office and effect some changes in the new government.
