“It is Manasseh Lomole who has been reappointed as the Deputy Governor of the State,” Mr. Francis Barson Yousa, the CES Government’s spokesperson told Gurtong in an interview.
Lomole was on Friday last week approved by the State assembly after a thorough debate before majority of the parliamentarians could vote for him after a few minority opposition members opposed the unanimous endorsement and insisted on voting.
“Apparently he is appointed to the position (Deputy Governor),” Hon. Peter Duku exclusively told the Gurtong.
Parliamentarians explained to Gurtong also that, Lomole who was serving as a Deputy Governor and at same time CES Minister of Education will now only mandated to holding the position of a Deputy Governor according to the new constitution relinquishing him from all these powers.
“It is a constitutional mandate stipulated in the new constitution that the Deputy Governor only holds the position so as to effectively supervise the performance of all the Ministries,” Hon. Modi Lomindi said.
He however added that, it is in the Governor’s wish to nominate him into any other ministerial position. Lomole who served as the CES Agriculture Minister and also the Deputy Governor before the 2010 general elections was approved by the House just a day after the CES parliamentarians were sworn in last Wednesday.
