The Minister of Higher Education Dr Peter Adwok Nyaba said Thursday that the University of Juba is likely to be re-opened in the next two weeks.

He, however, decried the poor infrastructure at the institution as a major challenge hindering learning at the institution.

Adwok expressed his ministry’s concerns over the long stay at home of the students admitted in 2010.

The University of Juba was closed for the entire 2011 and was only opened after the South Sudan Referendum and subsequent independence in July.

However, the university was shut early this year after clashes broke out between students.

Higher education in South Sudan faces numerous challenges and just last month the Higher Education Ministry suspended twenty two private universities on grounds that they did not meet acceptable standards.
