Minister Calls For International Action On Corruption

South Sudanese Minister for Environment Alfred Lado Gore has said the crackdown on corruption in the country requires combined efforts both locally and internationally.

“The best thing for the international community to do is to help President Salva Kiir by freezing the accounts of those who have looted public funds”, Gore said.

He added that much of the country’s embezzled monies are kept in the Diaspora, majorly the US and Europe.

“If the  international community condemns and imposes sanctions on South Sudan it will not be the President or government officials who will suffer but the entire country”, Gore said.

The South Sudanese President Salva Kiir last month publicly announced a bold move to crackdown corruption when he called on 75 top government officials to return an alleged 4 billion US Dollars embezzled from government coffers.
