The Speaker of South Sudan’s National Legislative Assembly James Wani Igga who arrived in the Jonglei State capital Bor Thursday said the new country faces threats from its northern neighbour Sudan.

Igga said the continued feud between the two countries has negatively affected the economy of South Sudan, adding that the oil shutdown in January has immensely contributed to the high inflation rates.

He, however, affirmed that the country’s leadership will not allow South Sudan’s collapse.

“We will not let South Sudan fall as per our enemies’ wishes. We will soon have a pipeline through Kenya to convey our oil to the world markets”, Igga told a public rally at the Bor Freedom Square.

The Jonglei State Governor Kuol Manyang Juuk who received Igga at Bor airstrip said the youth in the state are willing to support the SPLA at the frontline.

Igga’s visit comes in the wake of wrangles at the State Legislative Assembly where legislators have called for the resifgnation of the Speaker Peter Dhieu Wal.

Igga who is also the SPLM Deputy Chairman will chair a reconciliation meeting with the MPs in a bid to address the situation.

His one week stay in the state will take him to all the counties in the state.
