Jonglei State Assembly Speaker Peter Chol Wal said that the house is back in session after the three months recess.

“Some MPs were sent to their respective areas to mobilise the people about the peace process”, he said.

Peace and stability has been dominating debates and is always given first priority by the speaker.

Wal said that most MPs accompanied the Sudan People’s Liberation Army (SPLA) forces to sensitise the communities on the disarmament process in Jonglei State.

According to the Speaker, the agenda for the August session is composed of debating the budget of Fiscal Year 2012 – 2013, Firearms Control Bill, Poll Tax Bill and the reviewing of assembly conduct of business regulations.

Speaker said that house will work hard to ensure that the members pass the bills within required timeframe.

Wal added that the common goal was to bring peace among the people of Jonglei who have suffered tribal conflicts for years.

Some MPs were unhappy with decision of the assembly to go for recess when there were debates pending in the house.
