Government Spokesman and Information Minister Dr Benjamin Barnaba Marial said that the farm in Renk is about 20 kilometers inside the South Sudan territory.

The Army Spokesperson Philip Aguer told reporters an attack two weeks ago left two Sudan People’s Liberation Army (SPLA) soldiers dead with two others sustaining injuries and property confiscated.

The minister termed the act as a violation of good neighborhood and that Juba is committed to the new environment of peace.

Though South Sudan says it has not responded militarily, the minister said they as a government are concerned and are calling on the international community to urge Khartoum to withdraw its forces from Renk.

Aguer said that two platoons invaded the farm and destroyed the food crops.

This comes at a time when humanitarian organisations have warned of food insecurity following the flooding that has destroyed most crops in the country.
