“The raiders came and raided about 364 head of cattle at Pamoum cattle camp and drove them to the eastern direction of Bor county,” area MP Kuol Bol Ayom said.

The MP said that he received information that the raids could have been done by the Murle raiders after tracing the foot prints.

Last week, Jonglei state government handed over more than 400 stolen cattle to the owner from the Murle community.

The handover was done in the presence of commissioners from Bor and Pibor counties.

However, Bor youth leader Phillip Thon Ayuen was not happy with the return of the cattle before concluding investigations by the appeal court.

Ayuen said that he doubted how just four suspects managed to escort a herd of more than 400 animals from Murle land to Bor.

“Investigators were not fair because you can imagine going to the owner of the cows grazing and identify that the cattle belong another person without any complainant,” said Ayuen.

The Chief Administrator of Anyidi Payam said there were conflicting figures as to the number of animals stolen from Murle as the authorities in Juba settled to the 418 figure.

According to the state governor, the chief and the army were sent to three Payams in Bor County to repossess the cattle peacefully from people.

“The criminals belonged to three Payams of Bor County and two of them were fined 208 and other two paid 210 to form the total of 418 cows needed by the state government to pay back the owner of the cattle, Malual Wuor from Murle community,” he said.

He said that the handing over of the cattle in Bor is the beginning of the peace between the ethnic communities of Jonglei state.
