“The discussion was about the cooperation agreement which was signed in Addis Ababa between the Republic of South Sudan and Sudan governments,” Minister of Information and Broadcasting and Deputy Governor, Hussein Maar Nyuot said.

The meeting was held after state governor Kuol Manyang Juuk returned from Juba.

Maar said the council of ministers in the meeting endorsed the agreements in full and bless it in spirit.

“He (Governor) fully briefed us and we shared the documents, we are supporting the documents and we are supporting our president together with the negotiating teams,” he said.

“On behalf of the government, we want to congratulate our president Salva Kiir Mayardit and the teams for the spirit and for the patience they took to negotiate for the documents,” he said.

He said that the governor will brief the state assembly tomorrow on the issue which they do think that they will also endorse the agreement and bless it as the council of the ministers executes.

“I want to take this opportunity to tell our people that we need read the agreement, we need to get acquainted with it so that if some people have the opinion about it then they understand it first because it was explained before we got the document,” he said.

Maar said that although there are some issues which are not added in the agreement, they hope that the government will follow them and they will be put into consideration.

“That council of the ministers is urging the people of Jonglei state to stand with the agreement and support it full because they know that their president together with the delegation team will continue with the outstanding issues, such as issue of Abyei, borders and the other areas that were not discussed,” he said.
