Chabur received an arrest warrant on the chairperson of the players, marketing officer and the information secretary of the association.

According to the Spokesperson Gai Chol, the three were arrested and detained for three hours in Melekia Police Station before being released.

“They released us because it is a civil but not criminal case,” Gai told Gurtong in an interview today.

“Yes we are waiting for court hearing and after that we will sit as a Board of Directors and file a report to FIFA and CAF,” he said.
This upheaval in the association is the latest of its kind marking escalation of dispute in the SSFA leadership after suspension and banning of its President for one year banning from the activities of the association.

Chabur was suspended two weeks ago after violating the constitution of the SSFA.

He was accused of publishing a press release announcing the suspension of his Vice President, a decision which was not ratified by the SSFA Board of Directors.

Gai explained that, Chabur intervention came following a live show hosted last week in Miraya FM as the SSFA leadership explained the suspension of the President.

In December, the SSFA will have a general assembly to discuss the decision of the board of the directors to suspend Alei.

This is the latest challenge in the SSFA, South Sudan sport’s governing body after the country was admitted as a member of the world governing football body FIFA early this year.

South Sudan become one of the latest recipients of Goal funds with a US$ 1 Million project aimed at building the headquarters of the South Sudan Football Association and a playing surface in Juba.
