Three different consecutive extra-ordinary meetings were conducted by the State Legislative Assembly, the Council of Ministers and the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM) Executive unanimously approving the downsizing of state government.

The ruling SPLM Executive and the Unity State Legislative Assembly caucuses resolved to decrease the number of the state institutions from 14 to 10 due to the current austerity measures.

The council has also abolished the positions of the headquarters commission and five legislative assembly advisors.

The newly appointed office holders are expected to take oath tomorrow.

The abolished Advisory Positions are:
1. Advisor for Health and Social Services,
2. Advisor for Peace and BordersRelationship
3. Advisor of Physical Infrastructure and Public Utilities 
4. Advisor on Education Affairs

The abolished ministries are:
1. Ministry of Parliamentarian Affairs, its current responsibilities to be carried out by the Chief Whip of the State Legislative Assembly.
2. Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources, its current responsibilities to be carried out by the State Ministry of Physical Infrastructure, Urban Development and Natural Resources.
3. Ministry of Gender and Child Welfare is taken back to Ministry of Social Development, Gender and Child Welfare. 
4. Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport, its responsibilities to be carried out by the State Ministry of Information and Communication, Culture, Youth and Sport.
5. Commissioner of the State Head Quarter, its current responsibilities to be carried out by the Secretary General.

The governor has issued another decree structuring the cabinet. The newly structured State Advisory positions are:
1. State Government Advisor on Service Affairs
2. State Government Advisor on Security Affairs.
3. State Government Advisor on Economic Affairs.
4. State Government Advisor on Peace and Political Affairs

The newly structured ministries are:
1. Ministry of Local Government and Law Enforcement.
2. Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Cooperative.
3. Ministry of Finance, Trade and Industry
4. Ministry of General Education and Instruction
5. Ministry of Physical Infrastructure, Urban Development and Natural Resource.
6. Ministry of Information, Communication, Culture, Youth and Sport
7. Ministry of Social Development, Gender and Child Welfare.
8. Ministry of Labour, Public Service and Human Resource Development
9. Ministry of Animal Resource and Fishery

The relieved State Advisors are:
