Rumbek East County Commissioner David Marial Gumke reported that county must be free from all forms of insecurity.
“I have order banning all types of alcoholic drink to be stop inside Rumbek East County with effect of Thursday. This order is open till county realize peace within itself. As long as I am still a commissioner in this county, this order must continue,” he announced.
The order indicated any person who would violate the local order will be taken to a local court and be fine with amount of 1,500 South Sudanese pounds.
He noted that Rumbek Central County inter-communal violence was caused by those people who drink alcohol and began to debate on negative attitude of their cultural origin.
“Alcohol is the part of insecurity in Lakes state; we need to pay attention so that our people are properly protected from any internal and external threats to their life,” he said.
