The State MP Benjamin Lopeyok Kumeya from Constituency No.10, Kapoeta East County informed the assembly of the sad incident and the parliament unanimously constituted a committee led by Deputy Chairperson of Health, Hon. Samira Louis Lojore to probe the incident.

Lopeyok said the victim was suffering from Kalazar leading to her operation by a doctor on Friday but shortly died following the disappearance of the donated blood by one of her closest relatives.

The MP disclosed to the press that the blood was donated on Thursday ahead of Friday’s surgical operation.

The MP revealed that the doctor told him that a person in charge of the Blood Bank was absent at the time.

Members protested saying that there is something wrong with the hospital and thorough investigations into the matter has to commence.

The Assembly Speaker Emmanuel Ambrose Ocholimoi described the circumstance as very regrettable and cited similar incidences including his mother-in-law who fell into the same situation where she was also left helpless.

The parliament commonly agreed that the committee be assigned to undertake the responsibility of systematic investigations.

Hon. John Ochang described it as an indented plan by the culprit and not just a mistake because the donated blood is nowhere to be found even after the incidence and investigation by the committee be quickly done and those found to have been involved must be held responsible.

The committee will commence its probe and investigate the cause of the death and investigate the disappearance of the donated blood and the whole process right from the prescription and report its findings on March 18.
